Our client provide full maintenance solutions, from the contract award to installation.

This includes planning, design & procurement of materials. As principle engineer, you will be the focal point of technical issues on these key projects. In this role, you will report to the Head of Technical Engineering & your key responsibilities will be :

Responsible for meeting engineering deliverables, across fleets taken from both train and freight operators As principle engineer, support the head of Engineering and the contract project manager

Create non technical drawings, supporting the design team in production of technical drawings Identify the correct materials to the procurement team

Vehicle surveys Client support and contact lead

The role will require some management responsibility and experience in this area would be advantageous in an application, but not essential.

In summary you will be ensuring the work is undertaken within the agreed project scope, project timescales & project quality.

The work will meet all pre-agreed technical & safety promises, while you will represent the company in a professional and positive way to the customer.

Our client a multi-disciplinary consultancy that work on a number of large Infrastructure projects on a Local, National and International scale currently require an Engineering Director to oversee their Rail Sector business.

As a senior leader within the organisation you will the responsibility for the growth and performance of the Rail business covering 2 main profit centres (Rail Engineering & Project/Cost Management).

The successful candidate will be responsible for circa 70 staff, 10 of which are direct reports covering 5 offices.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Lead a safety culture that sees all our staff return home well and unharmed.
  • Develop and deliver a growth strategy for the Rail Engineering business.
  • Play an active role in identifying and securing new work, working closely with the Sales Director and operational account leads. This will include ensuring pipeline data is always accurate.
  • Oversee the development of resources within they business, ensuring appropriate skills and training, with a focus on developing cross office working practices to improve project delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with other Sectors in Infrastructure to growth our market share and delight our clients.
  • Deliver measurable Performance Improvement in respect of Customer Satisfaction, Technical Delivery and Project Profitability.
  • Play an active role on the Rail Leadership Team, contributing to the overall success of the wider business.


In addition, you will also be expected to:

  • Lead on significant projects / frameworks in a Project Director / Framework Director capacity.
  • Lead key bids and client accounts where these are of strategic importance.
  • Represent the sector on industry working groups and forums.
  • Undertake reviews/be the internal owner of key bids and projects in line with company governance.

As the signalling design manager you will hold the following requirements:

- Experience leading complex signalling design projects, encompassing knowledge of signalling design and interlocking principles, NWR standards, components and fabrication methods.
- Hands-on experience managing the production, checking and approval of feasibility, outline and detailed signalling principles design and calculations
- Familiarity with RRI, mechanical and SSI systems (although 2 out of 3 may be acceptable)
- Knowledge of railway systems and related operating practices, along with their key interactions with other railway assets.
- Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Approves and signs off on work.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Agent to further their career on a Major Civil Engineering project.

The role will initially involve working with the professional services team offering constructability, methodology and value management input, then feeding in to the development of target cost programme and price before moving in to site-based role.

You will need to work to and understand the Client needs and expectations and support the development and implementation of the Framework and Scheme Strategies to ensure that objectives are met.

You’ll also be responsible for implementing and maintaining safe systems of work in accordance with Kier Safety, Health and Environmental Management System (SHEMS) for their section of works. We need someone who is able to demonstrate a personal commitment to implementing the quality management system and attainment of the Framework and Scheme targets.

Ensuring technical problems are managed and liaise with the Sub Agent to ensure they are resolved. Promoting continuous improvement and share good practice at project level and within the business.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent.
  • Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of Site Engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.
  • Must have extensive experience of working on Structures, Highways, Utilities and Earthworks.
  • Good teamwork skills.
